Welcome to the organ of Chippenham Parish Church. It is hoped the following guidelines will assist you when playing.
The on/off switch for the blower is situated below the stop jambs on the right hand side. Console lights are operated by one switch under the manuals, to the right hand side to illuminate the pedalboard, and another (labelled) on the bank of switches to the left of the organ bench - note that the socket switch at the base of the pillar to the left of the console must also be 'on' - and all switches must be reset ot 'off' at the end of your session on the organ.
Balance
The Great is situated on two soundboards speaking out into the Eastern Chapel (east of the screen).
The Swell is situated at the top of the case, with shutters on its west and south sides.
The Choir is situated together with the great speaking out into the Eastern Chapel.
The Choir Trumpet (duplexed on the Pedal) is situated immediately behind the western case front.
The Pedal organ is mainly at the rear (north) of the case.
Other
Please leave the swell box open when you have finished playing.
Do not use an eraser on the music desk.
The hymnbooks beside the organ bench may be used for services, but under no circumstances must any other music stored in the console area be used.
Please remember to turn off TV monitor and camera (if they are in situ - though please note that this facility is not always available) after each rehearsal and service.
When practising in the daytime the Vicar and PCC request that the volume is kept to a reasonable level.
Should a fault (tuning or mechanical) occur when playing please make a note and leave it for the Director of Music to deal with. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY IT.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoy the experience of playing this splendid organ.
